I’m not a beauty blogger but I love a product. And at the moment I need all the help I can get. So over a coffee and a set of gel nails (did I tell you I’m well into gel polish?!), one of my friends told me about Look Fantastic’s Beauty Box and I was intrigued to say the least. If you subscribe, once a month you are sent a gorgeous box filled with at least six treats for you to try. Not full size products but not the little tester sachets either. These are decent sized samples of products, that will allow you to really get a feel for if you like them enough to buy them. Cost wise, the minimum is £15 for a one-off box. However if you choose to subscribe (maximum 12 months), that could be reduced to £13 a month. In your box you get a nice little booklet with details of the products, some other product reviews and beauty tips. Oh and you also get a pocket copy of Elle magazine. They are about £4 in their own right aren’t they?
First piece of good news is that as long as Look Fantastic have boxes in stock when you order, you should have yours within 48 hours and when it arrives….eeeeek it’s so pretty! I’m a sucker for nice packaging and they’ve really thought about these boxes. It has the feel of indulgence, which is ultimately what I’m looking for I suppose. That and something to magically make me feel like a princess!
Back to reality and working with what I’ve got. Here’s my top 3 products in the box.
By far this was my favourite product in the November box. I’m a bit of a L’oreal lover so maybe it’s not a huge surprise I loved this. I’m not naturally blonde but I use a few highlights to add a bit of tone (and to hide the ever emerging greys). This undoubtedly dries my hair and some of the shine I have when fully dark, is lost. Well not anymore! This oil is awesome. Just a touch genuinely adds shine to my hair without making it greasy. It also feels amazing on my hands afterwards, which is an added bonus as far as I’m concerned.
Second place goes to hair product. The best way I can describe it is a bit like a gel spray. It adds a bit of texture to your hair when it’s a bit limp, without making it sticky. For me, this works great if I’ve washed and straightened my hair in the morning and then want to joosh it up a bit for a night out, without starting from scratch. Not sure I’d pay a fortune for it mind. £18 (full size) feels a bit expensive for what it was.
Cute, very very cute. And a very respectable third place. The shade is peach bellini but I’d actually say it was more rose than peach. Either way it was a good colour for me. I suppose that is the danger with any make up samples in the box – not everything will suit everyone. But I liked it. What I will say is that it is very pigmented which means the colour is strong. Be sure to give your applicator brush a blow before you apply it or you run the risk of looking like a modern day rag dolly anna!
All the other items in the box were pretty good too, but I’d prefer to highlight the ones I really like. I love the whole concept of the beauty box. I can’t afford to buy loads of different products to try – especially the expensive ones – but I love that I can get to try something new and feel like I’ve really treated myself, without breaking the bank. I believe there are other beauty boxes available too which I haven’t tried, but I’m so impressed with the quality of Look Fantastic’s. I can’t wait for December. More treats for me……yippee.
